Steel Magnolias is a stage play by American writer Robert Harling, based on his experience with his sister's death. The play is a comedy-drama about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. The title suggests the "female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel".

Note: Masks are required at auditions unless actively performing. All selected cast members will be required to be fully vaccinated in order to rehearse and perform.

Truvy Jones:
Age: 40ish. Female. Any race/ethnicity. Owner of the beauty shop.

Annelle Dupuy-Desoto: 19. Female. Any race/ethnicity. Beauty shop assistant.

Clairee Belcher: mid-60s. Female. Any race/ethnicity. Widow of former mayor. Grande dame.

Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie: 25. Female. Any race/ethnicity. Prettiest girl in town.

M’Lynn Eatenton: 50ish. Female. Any race/ethnicity. Shelby’s mother. Socially prominent career woman.

Ousier (pronounced “Weezer) Boudreaux: Mid-60s. Female. Any race/ethnicity. Wealthy curmudgeon. Acerbic but loveable.

Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Tuesday, September 14th, 6 pm reserved for callbacks if necessary. Show runs January 14-22, 2022.
