11 principals , plus ensemble, in a predominantly, but not completely, Black cast.
C. C. White and Curtis Taylor, Jr, actors who sing and dance.
Jimmy “James Thunder” Early, winning personality, strong nightclub singer who can move well.
Lorrell, Deena, and Michelle, fashion-plate singers with excellent voices who act and dance.
Effie, full-figured gospel singer with exceptional dramatic talent.
Marty, Wayne, Dave, and Tiny Joe Dixon, supporting actors who sing and dance.
Auditions will consist of singing, a short dance combination, and reading from the script. You should bring sheet music (32 bars to show your range and ability) and clothes/shoes you can dance in. Accompanist provided.
