From Gates : “Theatre Huntsville has a very exciting future ahead of us. Change is inevitable and to grow as an organization we must be prepared and excited to embrace it. As our City evolves and grows, we are ready to go on that journey. I want to engage our community in conversations via performance and artistic vision.
Theatre faces many challenges in this century. My focus will be to ensure TH’s future both financially and artistically. The first can be achieved by diversifying income sources, community partners, and diverse offerings. The second involves engaging artists to perform and create the work they want to present and find the audiences for these new works. The Rocket City Playwright Series was a first step in our expansion into the area of new works, and TH plans to continue that series.
Our mission is to present a diverse and entertaining slate of high quality, theatrical experiences that educate, stimulate and enrich the entire community. Expanding our programming to meet the needs of a new generation of theatre-goers, while maintaining our current audiences with work that will engage them, fulfills that mission. Not all programming is the same, often requiring a different set of resources. Diversification ensures that all of those resources can be used to the best of our ability to lead the theatre community into the future.”
