VANYA AND SONIA AND MASHA AND SPIKE

Winner of the 2013 Tony Award for Best Play! Middle-aged siblings Vanya and Sonia share a home in Bucks County, PA, wehre they bicker and complain about the circumstances of their lives. Suddenly their movie-star sister, Masha, swoops in with her new boy toy, Spike. Old resentments flare up, eventually leading to threats to sell the house. Also on the scene are sassy maid Cassandra, who can predict the future, and a lovely young aspiring actress names Nina.

Tickets for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike are $18 for adults and $16 for seniors (65+), students, and active duty military and can be purchased by calling the box office at 256-536-0807, ask about group rates and handicapped seating.
DIRECTOR – TARA FERGUSON
Tara Ferguson is lucky to share her lifelong passion for theatre with her whole family. She met her husband by spending a summer working on two plays with him, her older child has been in 7 plays already at the age of 13, and her younger son does his best to help out. Recently, Tara has stage managed Theatre Huntsville’s A Christmas Story, assistant stage managed and was props mistress for TH’s Superior Donuts, assistant directed and acted (with her older child!) in the Evil Cheez production of Bluebeard, and assistant directed the Theatre Huntsville productions of Rumors and The Game’s Afoot. She also serves as the Facilities Chair for the Theatre Huntsville board of directors. Tara would like to thank Theatre Huntsville for giving her this opportunity. She also says a huge thank you to her wonderful cast and crew, who have been such a joy to work with. She also thanks her theatre family, from those that she met starting out in junior high and are still a part of her life to those she has met recently, and of course a round of applause for her family, who have supported her passions for all of these years.
VANYA HARDWICKE- CHRISTOPHER KELLY CARTER
Christopher K. Carter is an Aries who lives in Five Points with a Hungarian and a pug. In his somewhat grown up life, he is a Supervisor at Starbucks and shares his love of caffeine with North Alabama. He is actively involved in community theatre, and is finishing a marathon of shows with TH, including A Tuna Christmas, The Game’s Afoot, And Then There Were None and Superior Donuts. Hobbies include collecting cast albums and musical flops, movies, geocacheing and potato juice. Much love to Tara, Jeremy, Paul and crew; this wonderful cast (super pumped about his first show with most of these jamokes, and sharing it again with sweet Tanja), and ALL the love to his super supportive parents and soon-to-be husband, Jorge
SONIA HARDWICKE – TANJA MILLER
Tanja Lewis Miller is a semi-veteran of the Huntsville community theatre scene, having performed in many productions, including Our Town, Five Women Wearing the Same Dress, and Daddy’s Dyin, Who’s Got the Will? with Theatre Huntsville; The Bad Seed, Plaza Suite, and Dracula: Lord of the Vampires with Renaissance Theatre; The Belles of Whitechapel, Beware the Rook, and Bloodless: The Lizzie Borden Mystery with Evil Cheez Productions. She would like to thank Tara for the opportunity to play such a beautiful, multi-dimensional character in this brilliant show. To Christopher, Gena, Brianna, Josh, and Alecea-it is an honor to share the stage with each of you. To the marvelous crew-you ROCK! To Jeremy Jerome-love, hugs, and BRING THEM! MASHA HARDWICKE – GENA RAWDON
Gena has been active in community theatre for 20+ years. After working in the Shoals for seven years, her first show in Huntsville was Theatre Huntsville’s Sabrina Fair in 2000. She has performed for Theatre Huntsville, The Whole Backstage, Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theatre and Renaissance Theatre. She enjoys working both on and offstage, and is currently the President of the board of Theatre Huntsville. She is thrilled to be a part of this complex show about love and family. Thank you to Tara and all the cast and crew that worked so hard on this amazing show. Enjoy!
CASSANDRA – BRIANNA BOND
Briana Bond is a recent graduate of the University of South Alabama with a Bachelor’s in Theatre-Performance. She was seen most recently as Rosalind in As You Like It, Psyche in Metamorphosis, Gwendolyn Fairfax in the Importance of Being Earnest, and an Ancestor in The Addams Family Musical, just to name a few. A web series she was a part of on Youtube is currently being released (See Blue Run). She is also in a local improv troupe-Comic Science Improv. Getting to work with the awesome cast as Cassandra has been a blast! She is thankful to her family for all their support. As a parting note, Brianna hopes you enjoy the show and would like to say “Beware!”
NINA – ALECEA KENDALL
My name is Alecea Kendall and I am a recent graduate from Auburn University now working for NASA’s office of human capital at Marshal Space Flight Center on Redstone Arsenal. I was born and raised in Huntsville Alabama. I love the Lord, to sing, dance, read, and to spend time with my family. I am an aspiring criminal law defense attorney with a passion to help as many people as I can in situations where they are unable to help themselves. I enjoy movies, music (Jazz/R&B/Neo-soul/Gospel/Pop) and meeting new people. I strive to laugh, love, and live to the fullest every single day.
SPIKE – JOSH PHILLIPS
Josh is happy to be joining the company to work on this fun show. He is a 2013 graduate of Birmingham Southern College with a BMA in Music and Theatre. In 2014 he spent a year serving as the directing and acting intern for New Stage Theatre in Jackson, Mississippi. He was last seen on stage in Theatre Huntsville’s Rumors as Officer Welch. Some favorite roles include Algernon (The Importance of Being Earnest), Richard III (Richard III), and Enjorlas (Les Miserables). He will next be seen onstage as Duane in our production of Duck Hunter Shoots Angel. He also serves on Theatre Huntsville’s board of directors as the publicity chair. Josh has had a blast working with this wonderful company and hopes you enjoy the show!
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR – JEREMY WOODS
During his 15 years on stage, Jeremy has spent a lot of time behind the scenes in the Assistant Director chair for both Evil Cheez Productions as well as Renaissance Theater in such shows as “The Bells of White Chapel”, “Beware The Rook” and the anti-Christmas favorite “The Reindeer Monologues”. This is his first time carrying the AD torch for Theatre Huntsville. He sincerely appreciates the amazing cast, crew and production staff for all of the hard work that went into bring “Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike” fruition. Jeremy will soon step back on the stage in TH’s ” Duck Hunter Shoots An Angel”. TECHNICAL DIRECTOR – PAUL FERGUSONPaul Ferguson is a fairly recent addition to Theatre Huntsville. He was most recently the Assistant Technical Director for TH’s production of The Game’s Afoot. A chemist by trade, he is the resident mad scientist of the organization. His next adventure will be on stage in TH’s upcoming production of Duck Hunter Shoots Angel.
